In 1938 Kitty Church moved to Dorset to live in a small farm at Tarrant Hinton, near Blandford Forum in Dorset, where she ran the Hambledon Gallery and became associated with other artists drawn to Cranborne Chase. An area of outstanding natural beauty straddling the Dorset-Wiltshire borders, other prominent painters and sculptors that have felt a close connection to Cranborne Chase over the years have ranged from Augustus John to Elizabeth Frink.
