n 1964 Kitty Church purchased Sutton House, which had been a small farm on the edge of the Wimborne St. Giles Estate. The house nestled in a small surrounding bank with a paddock, a mature orchard of pear and apple trees and a large pond just below the house. The present work was probably completed when Piper visited Church in her new home. (See: J. Duncalfe, Katharine Church: A life in colour, The later years, Harrogate, 2015, p. 39)
