A COLLECTION OF TEN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE 19TH CENTURY SEA SHELL SPECIMENS

A COLLECTION OF TEN EXCEPTIOANLLY RARE 19TH CENTURY SEA SHELL SPECIMENS probably made by the celebrated Maison Tramond, 9 rue de l'ecole de medicine, Paris, similar to the glass specimens produced by Blaschka in the late 19th century, each shell modelled with delicate wax embellishments depicting the molluscs as they would have been in life, each mounted in a glazed card box with handwritten labels, some also with annotations, the largest 9cm long (10)

Provenance: Possibly previously in the collect of the British Museum, one specimen baring a British Museum label.

Estimated at £2,500 - £3,500
