Ancient region of Gandhara, 2nd - 3rd century
Of rectangular shape, gently curved, the relief carved with two subsequential scenes, the first panel on the right with Buddhist monks throwing oil on Buddha's coffin and remains for his cremation, one attendant knelt down in pray, the first scene separated by the latter on the left with a Corinthian column in the middle, the latter panel with Buddhist monks storing the remains of Buddha's body in different rounded caskets, all wearing their hair in a tight bun on top of their head, 14cm x 37cm.
