A MINIATURE MEDICAL BRONZE MORTAR
Iran, late 18th - 19th century

Of cylindrical shape, resting on a flat circular base, the body decorated with cusped flanges and engraved with lobed figural medallions with characters from the princely cycle, including the female musician, cupbearer and courtiers, against a Mamluk-inspired Y-shaped ground, encased within two narrow decorative bands of knot work and vegetal trellis, 4.5cm high and 6cm diam.
