AN OTTOMAN CORAL-SET DAGGER
Ottoman Turkey, 19th century
With a pointy, curved, double-edged steel blade, the forte inlaid with gold and silver vegetal and calligraphic decorations, the handle and sheath fully encrusted with drop-shaped coral and circular turquoise paste beads arranged in parallel vertical order, the parcel-gilt back engraved, chased and ring-punched forming oval cartouches of roses in relief, foliage and beaded patterns throughout the sides, 37cm long including the sheath.
