Lot 6 - A large Art Deco cameo glass Poissons vase by...

A large Art Deco cameo glass Poissons vase by Charles Schneider for Le Verre Français, circa 1925, of tapering cylindrical form, overlaid in bright orange graduating to a mottled green foot, acid-etched with a band of stylised fish at the top, swimming amongst tall seaweed radiating vertically up from the base, reserved against a frosted clear glass ground incorporating numerous internal bubbles simulating water, heightened with pale blue mottling towards the base, signed 'Charder' in cameo to the body, inscribed 'Le Verre Français' in diamond point to the foot, the base acid etched 'FRANCE', (43cm high). Notes: By 1920 the Schneider factory in Epinay-sur-Seine was working at full capacity making mainly art glass. In 1921 Schneider started using new trade marks for his cameo glass, signing it 'Le Verre Français' or 'Charder', and sometimes both. The Poissons pattern is considered one of the most rare, sought after patterns, especially on a vase of this scale.
