The Design Department at Chiswick Auctions is proud to present the first sale of 2026, featuring four distinguished private collections spanning diverse periods and disciplines.

From the collection of researcher, author and specialist Mo Amelia Teitelbaum, is a curated selection of works by Jean-Michel Frank, designed during his time in Argentina where he co-founded the Design Firm Comte S.A. Chiswick Auctions is honoured to present works that reflects this Argentine chapter. Highlights include a scarce and important desk made for the Sans Souci Palace, a rattan and cherrywood table commissioned by Fritz Mandl, and a pair of Bridge Chairs designed for the foyer of the The Kavanagh Building - the iconic Modernist skyscraper in the heart of Buenos Aires.

A single owner collection of Italian Design, spanning the 1920s to present day, demonstrates the enduring relevance of Italian style.  Works by masters such as Gio Ponti, Zanotta, Paolo Buffa, Piero Fornasetti and Ico Parisi are presented alongside renowned makers of lighting Barovier & Toso, Angelo Lelli and Venini.

Art Deco and Art Nouveau are particularly well represented, complimented by a large consignment from a private collector of Dutch decorative works that bridge the gap between the two Movements. Works on offer include some of the finest examples of decorative ceramics to emerge from the Dutch potteries of the late 19th and early 20th century. Strong pattern, colour and forms define a collection of over 20 vases, chargers and inkwells by Rozenburg den Haag, Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH), Gouda and Amphora, whilst the shift from Art Nouveau style towards the more restrained, modernist aesthetic of the Amsterdam School is seen with geometric motifs and matte glazes in works by De Distel and a ‘Blocks’ vessel by Kennemer Pottery.  Rarely offered at auction is lighting by De Nieuwe Honsel, textiles by Jaap Gidding, and an impressive clock by Winkelman and Van der Bijl.

The final single owner collection comes from a remarkable Georgian riverside property. Behind the 18th century facade,  an extensive selection of Postmodern and Contemporary Design was uncovered, including a trio of Cappelini 'Mondrian' cabinets, a Chris Howker 'Dip' bench, and a Giandomenico Belotti 'Rietveld' chair.
