Chiswick Auctions is pleased to present our Old Master & 19th Century Art sale on 14th April, offering a wide selection of important paintings, drawings, prints, and frames from major regional and artistic movements over the last 500 years.
Highlights include a rediscovered painting by Giovanni Battista Salvi, called Sassoferrato, a major contributor to the Italian Baroque movement. This painting comes fresh to the market having been held in the same family collection for at least 128 years.
Continuing the strong Italian representation, we will be offering a beautiful landscape by Andrea Locatelli, dated to 1730, and a wonderful group of views of Venice by William White Warren.
Another exciting offering will be an oil by arguably the most influential painter of The Hague School; Hendrik Willem Mesdag. This painting shows the artist’s expressive style and was previously owned by the artist’s close friend; Johanna Croiset van der Kop.
Following on from the successful sale last year of a large collection of watercolours by Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Crowdy Lovett and his son, Nigel Lovett, Chiswick will be presenting further views by these artists of Egypt, India, as well as military personnel.
Whether you're a seasoned collector or new to the world of art auctions, this carefully assembled sale offers an opportunity to acquire exceptional works from major private collections.
