For new buyers and sellers contact Tracie as she will gladly explain the ins and outs of buying and selling at a traditional auction or for the Live on-line bidding.
Tracie has thirty years experience in antique and collectable dolls, teddy bears and toys. Her interest started with her mother, Jackie Allington a world renowned collector and dealer in rare antique dolls, automaton and toys. Together they travelled through Europe and America attending auctions, fairs and more recently large conventions in the USA. Tracie was a member of UFDC and NADDA.
Tracie opened an antique and collectable toy shop, Sawdust & Lace in Royal Tunbridge Wells in the mid 80’s, and another Dimples & Sawdust in the 90’s.
Tracie was the former head of department of Dolls, Teddy Bear and Toys at Bonhams, starting the department from scratch. During that period she handled collections like the Cotswold’s Teddy Bear Museum, this collection travelled to Chicago as an exhibition and was shown on satellite in Japan, an exciting event.
Tracie is one of the last students to gain a degree at Harrow Ceramics, University of Westminster, this interest in portraiture and ceramics clearly evolved from her many years handling rare and fine porcelain dolls.
Tracie joined Chiswick Auctions in 2011 to develop regular Toy, Doll & Teddy Bear sales; this has now expanded to include Lace, Textiles and Vintage Fashion. Holding two larger sales each year and adding to the weekly sales on a regular basis.
FINE TOY SALES
All toy and doll catalogues will be photographed and on line prior to the auction so keep looking near each sale date. Commission and telephone bids can be registered for every sale. LIVE on-line bidding is now available.
Please note it is recommended to view the auction on the Sunday, Monday or Tuesday prior to the sale as there are many multi lots, some maybe perfect but many are played with. The on-line photographs are part of the description and it is important to look at them carefully while reading the brief descriptions as often they will be more useful as to the condition of the toys you may consider purchasing. Visit our website Saturday and Sunday evenings to view our photographs… we add lots right up until the last moment.
